While social media marketing is all the rage these days, one powerful tool considered by many as “old school” still remains one of the most effective ways to increase sales and repeat business ratios. Yes, I’m talking about email marketing.
Call it old school or whatever, but no one can deny its power and effectiveness to reach out to potential customers and cultivate relationships with current ones. When integrated properly in your marketing strategies, it can become the primary source of revenue.
Here are smart tips to keep in mind to ensure email marketing success:
First things first, ask permission before sending anything to people on your email list. Otherwise, you’ll only be wasting time if your email is perceived as spam. Also be sure to put an unsubscribe link in all of your emails.
Encourage people to opt-in
Put in place an easy-to-understand opt-in box on your web pages. You can tell your visitors to enter their email to avail a promotional offer or sign up for a free newsletter.
Once they’ve signed up and confirmed their subscription, send them a short thank you message for opting in.

Again, as always, offer your readers content that really benefit them. Boring emails only lead to low open rates. Keep offering valuable content. This would impact hugely on your overall sales conversion and repeat business ratios.
Write compelling headlines
Look for catchy phrases and headlines that grab their attention, and persuade them to read your message. Here’s a good example of a compelling headline: “The 55-Cent Life-Saver Doctors Never Tell You About!”
This is a real headline used by a company selling online health products. It’s a killer headline that simply no one can ignore.
Offer something free
Tell them to get a limited free consultation service or send them special membership discounts. People love free offers and it’s one of best ways to establish a relationship. Know more about your readers – the kind of problems they’re dealing with every day – and offer them some help to make things easier for them.
Use a persuasive “call to action”
This is the crucial part of your email marketing campaign. You’re only as good as your “call to action” strategies. Don’t just tell; show them. Show readers why it makes perfect sense doing business with you. Make them an offer they’ll find hard to say no.
