What is a Rich Pin?
Rich Pin is a new Pinterest tool that allows users to add detailed information for a pin. This tool or feature has already been implemented on 3 major categories: products, foods and movies.
Products – details you can add include availability, real-time pricing and where to buy. This makes it easy for pinners to purchase your products.
Foods – this is for bakers and cooks out there. You can now share your recipes and cooking procedure with the Pinterest community.
Movies – rich pins on movies allow you to let pinners know how the movie is faring. Details can include: ratings, reviews and cast members.
Why you should take advantage of this new tool
Ecommerce sites and online products stores can have an increase in engagement and revenue. Pinners browsing on their pins can now have more detailed information about the products, helping them to act on them when they want to.
How to activate Rich Pins
As with other social networking sites, any major change is rolled out gradually. This means that this feature may already be available to you while not yet to some.
The first batch of pinners can now see the rich pins for the above mentioned 3 pin categories and can now activate them by clicking the rich pin icons located below the pins. Some users may also enable them by clicking on the “Get it now” button on top of their Pinterest feed.
