You have setup your Facebook business page and you have reached the required number of 25 fans or more. Congratulations! You are to now be able to claim your vanity url for your page. This is an exciting time as you are well on your way to spreading your business footprint across the web! Women business owners who actively market online understand the power of branding their business across social media platforms. You claiming your vanity url on Facebook is a step in that same direction. If you already have been on Facebook for some time but still have not claimed your vanity url, this article will help you as well. Continue reading as I walk you through these quick and easy steps to claiming your vanity url now.
A CRITICAL KEY:DECIDE ON A NAMEWhen choosing your vanity url your first choice as a business owner should be your company name. If your business name is not available, consider using a variation of your company name, for example: (www.Facebook.com/MACsWomenGroup) or the keywords your target audience use to search for & find your products & services. Whichever you choose, ensure it is in line with your business goals.
WHEN YOU CAN'T USE YOUR COMPANY NAME during a session with one of my social media clients, in supporting her with choosing and setting up the vanity url for her new Facebook business page, (She was unable to use the company's business name) our call involved really drilling down & uncovering a high impact keyword phrase for her unique target market. A keyword phrase that her target audience use when searching for the answer to their burning question & that her business will rank well for.
As a businesswoman, it is wise to spend some focused time when choosing a vanity url for your business page.

If you are not already logged in, go ahead and log in to Facebook and go to Facebook.com/username. This is where you can select a username or vanity url for both your personal page & your business page.
If you have multiple business pages, as we do at MACs Women, you would click on the drop-down menu to select the name of the page you are claiming your vanity url for. If you have one business page only, you will see your page listed in the Page Name section.
To the right of Page Name: go ahead and enter your desired Username; then, click on Check Availability.
If your desired username is unavailable you will be notified as such and will need to try another username. Once you have chosen a username that is available, Facebook will provide you with a popout page that looks like this:
As you will notice from the graphic above, Facebook will share with you some important reminders about what you can & cannot do with your username. Once you have read those reminders & decided that you are sure you want to select the username, go for it & click on the Confirm button.
It is important to know that once you have chosen your username, Facebook only allows you to change your user name once, so choose wisely. You will not be able to change it after that.
