You’ve heard the typical advice for writing an article for your blog, right? It goes a little something like this…
Write an introduction that tells readers what they’re going to learn. Use the main body of the article to deliver on the promises you made in the introduction. Create a conclusion that reminds people of what they just learned from reading your blog.
Sure, that works, but it’s a pretty basic approach. These days when you’re writing an article for a blog, you need to do a little more to keep people reading and returning to your website to read more.
So here’s my system for writing your next attention-grabbing article:

Step 1: Begin With Benefits
You need to start off on the right foot with a “blow their socks off” title. This is a title that presents a big benefit and/or arouses curiosity.
Here’s an example of beginning with benefits: “Here Are the Seven Secrets of Winning Your Next Client.”
Here’s another example that arouses curiosity: “Are You Making These MASSIVE Social Media Mistakes?”
The beginning of your article should continue promising benefits for those who keep reading. Obviously there needs to be a payoff, so make sure the body of your article delivers on the promises you made in the title and introduction.
Step 2: Lock Readers In
If you just write your article like a boring lecture, you’re going to have people clicking away faster than you can say, “But this is good information!”
So yes, obviously you need to provide good information for readers. But you also need to provide it in a way that keeps them hanging on your every word. In other words, “edutain” them – entertain them while you educate them.
Here are two tips for achieving this outcome:
Step 3: Offer Examples
Perhaps you’re offering step-by-step instructions for completing some process. To make your article even more useful, you should also toss in tips and examples. If you look back on this article, you’ll see I gave you two examples in the first step and two tips in the second. You should do the same sort of thing so that your readers walk away from your article with a good understanding of the material.
Step 4: Generate a Response
Once you hit your conclusion, you’ll probably do a quick recap of what the reader just learned in the article. That’s great. But you don’t want your reader to walk away without taking some specific action. So that’s why you should seek to generate a response such as:

So there you have it: a simple step-by-step process for writing a really great blog article. The four steps include:

One example of this, is to combine influencer marketing with real world networking. In other words, if you can speak to an influencer in the real world, they’ll be far more likely to give you a shoutout. If you take a photo with them, you could even upload it to Instagram and tag you both in it!
Another tip is to aim at the right level of influencer. Don’t go straight for Oprah or Richard Branson – start small and then work your way up. The ideal influencer to work with is someone who is at a similar level to you but just slightly ahead. That way, you’ll still have something to offer them in return.
So, take a look at the leaders in your industry and begin communicating with them and sharing their content. Find out where they are speaking or hosting an event and register to attend. Get in the room with them virtually or in person. Be strategic and build!

Not all social media platforms are suitable for your kind of marketing campaign. Trying to build a presence and stay significantly active on all available social media platforms can be time consuming and counterproductive. Instead, you need to identify platforms that bring the best results and focus on them.
3. Optimize your social media platforms
Once you’ve decided on the platforms you intent to use, focus on optimizing your profiles in order to get more followers. A few things to consider include using a real profile picture, write clear and comprehensive bios for your profiles, and where applicable, include a link to your website.
4. Connect your social media accounts to your website
Having all your active accounts connected to your website helps to keep the conversation going. Also, linking your website to your social accounts gives visitors on your website easy access to link through to any of the listed accounts.
5. Find and follow leaders in your niche.
Find the most influential people in your niche and follow or favorite them. Chances are they will share useful information about your niche or share their progress about a certain project; and you can look over their shoulders for inspiration.
6. Don’t forget the hashtags
Yes, it’s not just a pretty function to make your phrase turn into a link and look cool. Most people actually use hashtags to search for stuff on social media. And it’s a nice way to listen and join relevant conversations.
7. Stay social
Whether you are running a personal profile or company/brand’s social media account, you need to actually stay social and interact. Follow other users, send friend requests, comment on interesting content, like other people’s stuff, update your status regularly, share interesting updates, and so on.
8. Follow the site rules
Each social media platform has its own sets of rules, and some rules cut across all the networks. For instance, Twitter has a limit on how many people you can follow per day, Facebook has restrictions on friend-requesting people you don’t know, Instagram has restrictions on the number of DMs you can send per day and so on. You need to be aware of the site rules and follow them.
9. Track mentions
This is where PR kicks in. Use available tools to track every mention of your brand across all platforms and find out what people are saying about you or your brand. Don’t miss a chance to neutralize any negative talk or to maximize raving reviews.
10. Post often to keep your account (s) relevant
The number of times to post per day will depend on the network, the number of followers and how interactive your audience is. Posting relevant content daily, or multiple times per day will keep your account active. The idea is to become a valued resource for your audience.
You can build a website but unless you know how to bring traffic to that site, you will fail. In fact, it’s the number one reason why those that are website beginners fail. You don’t need tricks to get the traffic; you just need proven techniques that will ensure you not only get tons of traffic, but that you get traffic that’s targeted. After all, it doesn’t help you if you have thousands of visitors a day that are looking to buy hammers and you are selling dresses.
So, here are 3 Ways to Build Up a Website of Targeted Traffic:
#1 Create Content That’s Valuable
If you place content on your website that is interesting, engaging, and worthy of the time it takes for your visitor to read it, you’ll get traffic. You need to provide value and when you do this in a manner that is genuine, that traffic will flow, and you will get what your site needs to be a success.
The content you place on your site should be relevant to the products or services you are offering. Think about what it is you want to share with people and what type of an effect do you want to have on them. Your goal might be to change the way people think about a particular product or it might be to get them to take action about a particular service. When you take the time to focus on providing real value you’ll be rewarded with relevant traffic that grows and builds.
#2 Make Sure Your Content is Original
You do not want to borrow content from other sites, even with their permission, because that’s just the same information going around and around. There’s nothing there to entice surfers to visit your site as they likely already saw that same content.
You also don’t want content that’s been “spun,” which means it's been taken from somewhere on the web, ran through some software, and produced what appears to be new content because of a few changes, but really is still the same old information going around and around again.
What you want is fresh, new content that’s written from scratch by a quality writer. If that person isn’t you, then hire a writer. You can do this for a very affordable price. You want to make sure that even if you are presenting the same basic information that you do it in a manner that leaves your visitor feeling like they learned something new.
#3 Create Content That’s Timeless
What this means is the content you write today should be relevant a month from now, a year from now, even a number of years from now. When you do this, you create the greatest value for your website and you also reduce the amount of work your site needs because the content doesn’t have to be constantly replaced because it has become old.
These three main points will help you get your website on track right from the beginning.

Instagram might actually be fixing the feed! They announced major changes for your feed this morning. Instagram isn’t quite bringing back the chronological feed, but it will show more new posts and stop suddenly bumping you to the top of the feed while you’re scrolling.
To quote Instagram: “With these changes, your feed will feel more fresh, and you won’t miss the moments you care about”. It should be more coherent to browse the app now that you won’t lose your place because your feed randomly refreshes, and there shouldn’t be as many disparate time stamps to juggle. Instead, you’ll be able to manually push a “New Posts” button when you want to refresh the feed.
In June, 2016, Instagram announced that it would move away from a feed in chronological order, instead, showing pictures it thinks you’ll be more interested in near the top. That is whether they’re old or not. Today, Instagram says this is changing, meaning we could be seeing a chronological feed again!
This change is such major news! Instagram further wrote: "Over the next few months, we’ll be sharing more about improvements we’re making to feed. Our goal is to be the best place to share and connect with the people and interests that matter most to you."
