Read these top three blunders that drive away customers and how you can avoid them.
No business owner ever wants to lose a customer. But customers, on the other hand, can be pretty unpredictable at times. Sometimes you find yourself at a loss trying to figure out what exactly they want, how to get their interest and compel them to buy your product or hire your service.

There are, however, common mistakes that cannot be attributed to your customers’ fickleness. Below are the top three blunders that drive away customers and how you can avoid them.

1. Not delivering on the promise

You have to walk the talk. Whatever you say your product or service offers to the consumers, be sure to deliver on that promise. One of the top complaints of the consumers, according to a survey conducted by the Consumer Federation of America (CFA), is “false advertising and other deceptive practices.”

If you fail to deliver on your promise, people will know about it. On average, one person who experiences a bad experience using your product or service will tell 10 or more people about it. It will start a bad word-of-mouth and you will lose a lot of potential customers. 

2. No proper communication

One of the best characteristics of a successful company is its excellent communication system with customers. Every time a customer contacts them for a certain issue with their product or service, they are there to address it immediately.

If you want to maintain a high customer retention ratio, make sure to put in place a good communication system for your customers, so that they can easily contact you whenever they need to communicate with you.

3. Neglecting existing customers

Many business owners are too busy seeking out new prospects and meeting new customers. The problem is that they neglect their current customers. They spend so much of their time thinking of new ways to generate new leads and expand to new markets, that is, at the expense of their existing loyal buyers.

The result can be a huge loss to their business. Customers are more likely to take their business elsewhere when they feel unappreciated by the company they currently patronize.
