Doing business online today requires positioning yourself as an expert in your field. Now, this doesn't necessarily mean a polarized, "Oprah-type" presence, but it does mean being efficient and effective in describing and delivering the benefits of your products and services to your clients.
This is where we get real about your content.
Despite its importance, there seems to be a certain amount of confusion about what content really is and even if quality content truly matters. Continue reading to discover my take on both of these issues.

Let’s talk about the definition of content.
One dictionary definition of content reads: "the subjects or topics covered in a book or document." Well, online content can be almost anything you want it to be.
Content is what you put on your website or social media profiles to get people interested in what you have to offer.
If you are doing online marketing, which every business women looking to make a profit online should be doing, you have to give people a way find you and your goods or services.
With technology, there are a variety of options for sharing information, and in a variety of formats. Your clients are no longer just interested in reading only written text, they want information in a variety of formats. These include videos, images, gifs, audio, products, etc.. Content that can be viewed quickly and can easily consume.
So, now that we know what content is, let's talk about what is valuable content.
Valuable content is anything that enhances your target audience. Pretty straight forward, right?Well, remember, I said earlier that you will have to put in some work? This is where the value of your content comes in.
Creating content that gets quickly and easily consumed by your online audience requires vision of purpose and a process. Knowing your industry and client's needs allows you to offer the best product and service information online. Providing best practices and industry information to your audience also qualifies as valuable content. Again, think in terms of ease of consumption. Tips, downloadable guides and resources all count.
If you think about your webpages as your brick and mortar in the real world, the content is the equivalent of what you’d stock on your store shelves to attract customers. Having well laid out online pages with a relevant mix of content in various forms will attract more web visitors. The more people that you can get to browse, the more money you will make down the line.
In conclusion, having great content to market online will help to create a loyal tribe of fans and customers. Content builds relationship. Relationships are built on trust; and trust drives revenue. Your target audience is looking for quality and why not from you? Become the expert; the go-to-resource for your clients and start seeing the benefits.

With millions of monthly users and over 20 billion images and videos shared over Instagram, it is fair to say that this should be added to your marketing mix.
In a previous post, I showed you how to embed your Instagram posts into your website. Well, you can do the same for videos! I can heart it now... I don't like making videos. It doesn't feel natural or I don't have enough time or tools to invest in this strategy. Well, here is a free tip you can do now to include videos into your marketing, without creating them yourself.
Video marketing is hot!
One of the main reason is speed of delivery. Your clients want information and they want it fast! I do highly encourage you to create original videos using your smartphone, camera or converting PowerPoint presentations into videos. It truly goes a long way with connecting on a more intimate and personal level with your audience.
In the meantime, while you are working up to creating your own videos, you can leverage the power of Instagram by integrating free videos into your content. This can beautifully boost your content. Caveat, give the proper attribution by showing the username and linking back to the original video on Instagram.
Also, when curating videos for your content, try sticking to the personality of your brand. Basically, share videos that are relevant for your industry type and audience.
Top types of content that gets engagement include those that: Entertain, Educate, Inspire and Convert.
