Email deliverability is of great importance at the MACs Women Community. We make sure that important messages are getting through and read by our highly valued recipients. That’s why we adjust regularly to new policies and utilize techniques to ensure that emails get delivered and reach their intended readers.
If you’re frustrated by the lack of response of your email marketing campaign, most possibly because your emails are snagged by spam filters, the following smart tips below can certainly help. 1. Do ask for permission To ensure email marketing success, the first step you should take is to ask permission. Actually, Seth Godin coined a phrase for this. He called it “Permission Marketing” and wrote an entire book about it. Once you have the permission of everyone on your list, you should have no problem with getting your emails tagged as spam. 2. Comply with the CAN-SPAM Act For any “electronic mail message” that contains commercial advertisement or promotional offers, you should comply with the CAN-SPAM Act requirements. You can read the complete details here. It’s only a short read. However, emails that only contain relationship content or transactional details are exempted from the rules, except when using misleading or false header information, which still applies to all sorts of emails. 3. Avoid using spam trigger words Words like extra income, free offer, and other spam trigger words you find in your spam folder when you check it right now should be avoided like the plague. Check out these extensive lists compiled by HubSpot and MannixMarketing. 4. Do a test using a spam checker Use free email spam check software like Mailingcheck.com and Isnotspam.com. Before you start sending your email list your messages, be sure to do a quick test using any of these free tools. This can save you a lot of time and frustration. 5. Stop buying lists Purchasing extensive lists from a third party is surely time-saving and convenient. But that doesn’t mean they are the most effective way to go. This method results to many horror email marketing stories; you don’t want to be a part of that mess. Instead of buying email list, use the opt-in process instead, which you can integrate into your web pages. They are the safest, smartest ways to grow if you want to build a quality list of prospects. Most importantly, opt-in allows you the opportunity to apply the “Permission Marketing” principle advocated by one of the world’s best marketers, Seth Godin. Now over to you… What are your top tips to getting your emails delivered? We’d love to hear your ideas in the comments.
