When you run your own business you always have this urge to work long hours to be able to expedite the growth of your business. But the more work you do doesn't necessarily mean more success.
Here are 5 quick tips to help entrepreneurs like you stay focused and productive: 1. Avoid multi-tasking too much As an entrepreneur you will need to be ready to multi-task when the need arises, but avoid doing too much at a single time as much as possible. Multi-tasking can have an adverse effect not only on your concentration but also on the quality of your work. You can be a more effective woman entrepreneur if you focus doing one thing at a time and finishing it before getting on to the next task. 2. Don’t overload your to-do list Writing your daily tasks down is a good way to help you stay focused. Just avoid writing down a long list. At first glance, a lengthy to-do list may look like you’re being productive, but you may end up having items you can’t cross-out because you were not able to complete every single one of them. This will make you feel inadequate, stressed out and unfocused. Always create a manageable list, don’t try to cram everything up in one day. 3. Stop answering the same question over and over again If you have an online business, you’ll soon find out that there are a set of questions that your employees, clients or customers keep asking over and over again. You’d be wasting your time if you get yourself involved answering questions like “Can I download your online tutorials?” or “Can I get a discount for bulk orders?” several times a day. The best approach to answering repetitive questions and inquiries is by putting up a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page on your site. 4. Focus on what you do best Learn to delegate so that you can concentrate more on the tasks that only you can do. Don’t do everything yourself, identify your strength and delegate everything else. 5. Make starting early a habit It’s good to start doing your work early so that you can have time and enjoy the non-work stuff (having breakfast with your family, seeing your kids before they go to school, dinner with your wife, tucking your kids to sleep). Don’t let your work encroach your personal life too much. If you have a happy personal/family life you’ll be even more inspired with your work, thus helping you to become more productive. What do you think? Which one of the above has the most impact on your productivity? Are you guilty of multi-tasking too much or overloading your to-do list? Do you delegate tasks? Are you an early riser? The MACsWomen community would love to hear your thoughts, please share them by commenting below.
