When you are lacking in motivation, the solution isn’t always so straightforward. It could be possible that you have forgotten the “why” of your business goals. To stay motivated with your goals, you must associate good feelings with accomplishing them. Thinking about your "why" should give you a certain burst of motivation, a drive that helps you stay focused or re-gain your focus when you lose sight of the bigger picture. Sometimes an extra boost of motivation, along with your "why" will give you just the inspiration you need. Here are some tips to stay driven when you need that extra boost!
1. Acknowledge every win. The majority of accomplishing any major goal is actually made up of “small wins” and daily forward motion. Giving yourself credit for each small task you complete daily towards that big goal helps! Pep talking yourself or reading an inspirational quote also helps. Remember, every accomplishment is worth celebrating, no matter how small. 2. Remember your “why”. Why is this goal important to your business? What positive reward will come with achieving your goal? Identify how your goal makes your business beneficial to your clients, and therefore, making the world a better place. Why is what you are doing so important to you? 3. Savor each moment. As you are accomplishing your goal, savor each moment along that way. Live in the moment. Breathe into the process and don’t have a moment of doubt that you can achieve your big goal... even during the challenging times, find adventure in finding solutions... savor each moment. 4. Redefine your view of failure. Instead of focusing on your mistakes, focus on what each experience has to teach you. Every mistake is actually a success in the form of a learning opportunity. Thomas Edison said it best when talking about his entire attempt at making the light bulb; “I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.” Business success includes trial and error. Measure effectiveness and make the necessary shifts along the way. 5. Create a Community. Success in business requires a community of support. Surround yourself with positive and like-minded people with similar goals. Misery loves company so do not give in to those who are not as driven as you are; or let their words discourage you. Your well being is definitely easily influenced by those around you, and if you can keep this in mind, you will have greater insights into the quality of your social interactions and the effect it has on you. Carefully choose your circle of influence. How do you keep yourself driven when faced with trial and error? In what ways do you tackle failure? How do you keep yourself motivated?
