To Tweet or Not To Tweet For Your Business

It is interesting to notice that 90% of small businesses have a presence on Facebook, while some women entrepreneurs still hesitate to create or even use a Twitter profile to market their business.

Now, this could simply be because some businesswomen just don't know exactly how to gain more clients using Twitter.  To help you gain more clients on Twitter get this ultimate twitter planner here.

Twitter is an entirely different social media platform than Facebook and they each have their pros and cons.

Everyone knows that Facebook leads the social media race with 1.6 Billion users;  at the time of me writing this post, still Twitter is not doing shabbily with 288 million active users, with most of those Twitter users being women; that is an attractive audience that women in business should consider connecting with.

To help you better decide on whether to tweet or not to tweet I have listed some pros and cons of Twitter for you below.

THE PROS AND CONS OF USING TWITTER

PROS:

  • Twitter is massive, with over 288 million active users.  As a business woman, you should be able to creatively engage your audience, even if you are a niche brand.

  • Every tweet goes to your followers.  Unless you tweet directly to someone, each and every tweet goes to all of your followers.  This offers your business Maximum visibility.

  • Twitter has the power to drive traffic to your website, blog, articles, etc.

  • Twitter helps you to get to your point (politely) of course. You can say a lot in 140 characters. Tweets are easy to create and can be very effective. During a Super Bowl power outage for example, Oreo's tweet:  "You can still dunk in the dark" tweet generated over 15,000 retweets.

  • Twitter marketing could always be a fun and creative method of doing business. Sharing behind the scenes tweets and partnerships with other business owners proves to shine a socially pleasant light on our brand.

CONS:

  • Since Twitter is super busy with users generating over 58 million tweets per day, and many users following several hundred profiles, you must tweet often. If you only tweet once or twice a day, your tweets are quickly buried in your followers' feeds.

  • You are limited to 140 characters. If you have trouble expressing your thoughts in just a few words, Twitter will be a challenge. Social media management could help with this challenge.

  • In order to get Twitter’s full effect, you need to understand how it works, when and how to use it depending on your end goal of using social media.

To get your business noticed on Twitter, it is important to tweet often throughout the day.  A recommendation of between 8-12 times per day or more.  Similar to some television stations,  we have all seen those repeats on Bravo for example or your favorite channel. This is by design, to ensure that their episodes are reaching the widest audience possible.  So Tweet often so that your message can reach the widest audience, within the various time zones.  To help you create a framework for success on twitter purchase the Ultimate Twitter Planner here:  The Ultimate Twitter Planner.

If you have thoughts about using Twitter as opposed to Facebook or any other social media platforms, please share them with me in the comments section below. I'd love to hear your thoughts.
