There have been many studies conducted that have left us clues and dutiful behaviors of successful individuals. There are tons of books and personal stories of individuals achieving success all around us, if we really took the time to look.
Success is all about becoming what YOU want to Become When you deliberately contemplate the definition of success as becoming what YOU want to become, it can easily put the "Success-o-meter" in perspective. You can begin to feel connected to the idea and even see some of the layers peel away, some first steps you are excited to take. Lots of women business owners are living life exactly as THEY want to. Sure, the flip side to that is that there are also many women entrepreneurs who are living life not as successfully as they want to. This is the beauty of choice. As the famous Henry Ford quote states “If you think you can do a thing or think you can’t do a thing, you’re right.” The choice is always yours. If you are an “I can do” entrepreneur, let’s keep reading on. Have you truly answered the question of what success means to you? Written or verbally declared what do you what to become? Do you want to become rich? Do you want to become really, really rich? Do you want to “just” live comfortably with the enough to pay your bills? An interesting process I have noticed with emerging women entrepreneurs is that they work on gaining clients and new business opportunities when cash-flow is low. So the cash-flow becomes a driving force that sustains them to get just enough to make it through that month’s bill paying cycle. There clearly is a more efficient way to operate that includes sourcing new clients consistently and increasing the cash-flow of your business. Maybe your success has nothing to do with attaining massive wealth at all and your idea of success is something totally different. For each of us success is a personal question that only we can answer and commit to. Take for example the woman entrepreneur who runs a non-profit, I use this example purely to illuminate the charitable portion of non-profits, the success is determined by how much that charity can give without costing the “getter” any money or a minimal amount of money. Now, that entrepreneur might not be interested in the personal goal of attaining massive wealth. Sure, in all situations, there are examples both ways. The major point being that we all have different personal goals where success is concerned. Then there is the example of my sister May; she is an occasional entrepreneur. She runs a seasonal cake baking business 2 months out of the year. She makes specialty holiday cakes by order, mostly for close friends and family members. She measures her success, not be the revenue her season business brings in but by the quality of her personal life; her husband and kids and owning her home (well, their home, and I must clarify because I believe over the years my brother-in-law has developed a complex because we are always referring to “their” home as our sister’s home, “May’s House”… okay back to my point), her business revenue has little to do with what success means to her; her business is icing on the cake (had to do it J) of her already successful life. Within our community of women business owners, the meaning of success is different from one business owner to the next.
