As an entrepreneur its important to have a working technical knowledge of how your business should operate within an industry. Whatever you are developing, making or creating you want it to be the best. However, great products alone don't make a business successful. Arguable the companies that are among the most successful in selling aren't necessarily the best at making. This can be a source of frustration to entrepreneurs who believe, or know that their product is better.
Why is it that some companies, even if they aren't the best in their field, are successful and others fail?
Simon Sinek in this Ted Talk lecture provides a very interesting answer. The answer to the question why some business are successful is the why. According to Sinek the reason why companies like Apple, Disney and others are greeted with success is because they are amazing at communicating why they do what they do. Apple believes in creating innovation, Disney is all about creating a family experience. It is this answering of why they are doing what they do is the crucible of their public relationships.
The question for you as an entrepreneur is why? Why are you in business, why do you do what you do? This along with the technical knowledge of your industry will hopefully lead to a successful enterprise.
